The Mississippi River at Burlington Iowa (BRLI4) rose above its major flood stage of 18 feet at 9 PM CST on April 11th and fell back below major flood stage at 1 AM on April 16th. The river crested 18.21 feet at 6 AM on April 13th.

Wider weather episode

The winter snow pack across Minnesota and Wisconsin was 125 to 200 percent of normal. This slowly melted during the spring and caused the Mississippi River in Burlington, Iowa to rise above its major flood stage during the second week of April.
