What EF1 means. On the Enhanced Fujita scale, EF1 is moderate damage: roofs badly stripped, mobile homes pushed off foundations or overturned, windows broken, consistent with estimated gusts of 86–110 mph. The rating comes from a survey of the worst damage after the storm, not from a wind measurement, so it says as much about what the tornado hit as about how strong it was.

What the National Weather Service wrote

The tornado started on Grand Coulee Road and it produced tree and power line damage along most of the path. However, most of the damage was minimized due to the track going through many open fields. A large shed was damaged along Rupert Lake Road. Max estimated winds were 105 mph.

The wider storm

A cold front drifted into the area and stalled while multiple disturbances passed aloft. This produced multiple rounds of severe weather over multiple days.

Began near Mowata (30.3997, -92.4418).
