As the MCS/squall line passed over the Laguna Madre and into the coastal waters, marine thunderstorm gusts were measured by NOAA buoy 42020, approximately 35 nautical miles east of Port Mansfield. which reported 47 mph winds.

On the night of April 28th, strong thunderstorms moved across Deep South Texas/Rio Grande Valley and pushed across the lower Texas coastal waters on the morning of the 29th. Gale force (34 knots or higher) gusts were seen in many locations, with one gust reaching storm force (48 knots or higher).
