As the MCS/squall line passed over the Laguna Madre, marine thunderstorm gusts were measured by the Brazos Santiago stationary platform on the south side of the Isla Blanca jetty on South Padre Island; 58 mph winds were reported.

The wider storm

On the night of April 28th, strong thunderstorms moved across Deep South Texas/Rio Grande Valley and pushed across the lower Texas coastal waters on the morning of the 29th. Gale force (34 knots or higher) gusts were seen in many locations, with one gust reaching storm force (48 knots or higher).
