A peak wind gust of 58 mph was also recorded at the Clayton ASOS at 1110pm MST.
Wider weather episode
A storm dropping south into the Great Basin strengthened the southwest flow aloft and at the surface over New Mexico on May 21st. This resulted in strong to high winds over most of the forecast area.
