Event narrative

Marion County Sheriff Dispatch reported a couple large trees and tree branches down near the 1600 block of Marion-Waldo Road on the southeast side of Marion.

Wider weather episode

A warm, moist air mass over northern Ohio allowed for scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop in the vicinity of a surface trough and off a lake breeze. With enough warm temperatures and instability over the region, a pair of thunderstorms became intense enough to produce wet microbursts over the region producing severe wind damage on the southeast side of Marion and in Seven Hills and Independence in Cuyahoga County. Storms during this event moved in a rare east-to-west motion and severe easterly winds may have led to increased damage during this event.
