Local broadcast media reported blowing dust and strong winds in the Lewiston Hill area, around Lewiston, ID, with estimated visibility reduced to less than 1/2 mile.

Wider weather episode

The passage of a strong cold front brought a line of strong winds in the early morning of May 6th. The winds surged north-northeast with the front impacting parts of the southern Idaho Panhandle. This produced a dust storm from the sudden, but short lived burst of strong winds. Sustained winds of 25-30 mph with gusts to 40-50 mph created near zero visibility from blowing dust in the Lewiston Area of the Panhandle.
