Event narrative
The Lewiston Tribune reported that heavy rainfall resulted in mud and water flowing over Highway US-95, south of Moscow. Water and areas of mud were transported from nearby cropland.

A shortwave disturbance tracked across the Idaho Panhandle on May 17th. With a moist and unstable atmosphere, there was heavy rainfall and some thunderstorms. Some locations across the Panhandle received an estimated 0.5 - 0.75 over an hour period. In addition, there were some small hail producing storms. Flash flooding and flooding according in the central Idaho Panhandle. Heavy rainfall led to water and debris flowing over US-95, south of Moscow, Idaho. Minor ponding and flooding were observed in Moscow as well.
