Event narrative

The Brighton Reservation Police reported Nickel size hail (0.88 inches) and wind gusts up to 50 mph with storms over the Cane Hill area of the reservation.

Wider weather episode

High pressure draped across the region brought east to southeasterly flow. This pattern favors the development of both The Atlantic and Gulf sea breezes each afternoon. Additionally, a plume of Saharan dust was slowly trickling in from the Caribbean, bringing drier air to the midlevels, while the leading edge also acted as a pseudo elevated mixed layer, enhancing updraft strength enough to produce hail in a few stronger storms over Glades.
