Event narrative

A gust of 42 mph associated with the strong thunderstorms moving northward across the region was reported at TABS-K Buoy via website at 1:30 PM CDT.

Wider weather episode

A series of northward propagating upper level disturbances moved over Deep South Texas on June 24-26. These disturbances along with increasing southerly flow brought very high precipitable water values between 2 and 2.50 inches across the region; merging outflow boundaries triggered strong thunderstorms across the region. Some of these storms produced strong gusts that were recorded at some of the buoys and marine observing platforms along the coast and within 60 nautical miles of the coast between Baffin Bay and the Mouth of the Rio Grande. Most activity occurred each afternoon with the help of daytime heating.
