Wider weather episode

A surface low moved eastward across Lake Ontario and extended a trough over Lake Erie during the late morning through early evening of the 11th. A relatively-tight surface pressure gradient affected northwest PA and nearby Lake Erie as the aforementioned trough interacted with a surface ridge building from the Lower Mississippi Valley. This tight pressure gradient was accompanied by breezy surface winds over northwest PA and Lake Erie. Numerous rain showers and isolated thunderstorms accompanied the surface trough. Rain transported stronger winds aloft to the surface, contributing to strong wind gusts. Multiple water rescues were reported offshore Erie, PA. However, no injuries or deaths were reported and only one water rescue involved a damaged boat.
