One of the Navy's vessels in the San Diego Bay, the U.S.S. Bonhomme Richard, caught fire the morning of July 12th and lasted for four days. Copious amounts of smoke entered the atmosphere creating poor air quality in the greater San Diego metro, along with a total of 68 military and civilian firefighters injured during the blaze.

Arson was attributed to the burning of the Navy's Bonhomme Richard ship, which lasted 4 days with over 60 injuries of navy and fire rescue personnel in the San Diego Bay.
