A wind gust of 43 knots was measured at an automated WeatherFlow station on Upper Matecumbe Key.
Wider weather episode
Numerous gale-force wind gusts from squalls and thunderstorms occurred throughout the Florida Keys and adjacent coastal waters as a strong tropical wave moved slowly west. The marine impacts were most-pronounced all day on July 21st and continued through the morning of July 22nd.
