North East Marina NDBC station (NREP1) recorded a peak wind gust of 48 mph from a thunderstorm.

During the early afternoon through early evening of August 27th, a surface low moved southeastward from Georgian Bay to central New York. Simultaneously, the accompanying cold front moved southward to western New York, far-northern Lake Erie, and southern Lower Michigan. Ahead of the front, a line of thunderstorms moved southeastward across the central and eastern basins of Lake Erie. As this line of storms came ashore, it produced a gale-force peak wind gust at North East Marina in Erie County, PA. This convection encountered moderate instability, DCAPE, and vertical wind shear, respectively.
