Event narrative

Lightning started the Basin Fire 12 miles northeast of Mammoth in eastern Pinal County on August 24th. The fire spread by strong winds, and a lack of monsoon rainfall, and consumed 2,710 acres before becoming contained August 30th. Fire suppression costs tallied $40,000.
