A mesonet site at Deer Island measured a wind gust to 58 mph at 810 AM EDT, after having recorded a sustained wind of 40 mph at 805 AM EDT.

Wider weather episode

A cold front produced a fine line of low-topped convection that moved across the region from west to east during the morning. A southerly low level jet of 80 knots at 850 mb, helped cause damaging winds.
