Event narrative

A power pole and numerous trees were snapped near the intersection of Highway P and Highway 190 near Jamesport.

Wider weather episode

During the late morning into early afternoon on August 10 a roaring derecho caused widespread damage across central and eastern Iowa. While the main impacts of this disastrous storm remained just north of the Iowa and Missouri border some of the outflow winds dove southward into northern Missouri causing sporadic damage to trees and structures. Wind speeds in northern Missouri were generally in the 60 to 70 mph range.
