A weak short wave trough crossed southern Ontario, spurring scattered convective activity as it did. Throughout the Golden Horseshoe, thunderstorms blossomed but quickly weakened as they moved into Lake Ontario. One cell made its way across the lake and secondarily strengthened as it moved down the New York shoreline of Lake Ontario, resulting in gusty winds around Olcott.
