The region was under a broad warm sector with a moist and unstable airmass firmly entrenched. An upper level trough sharpened across the region as a strong cold front swung through the state during the afternoon. Numerous storms developed along the Western Mountains and continued to strengthen over the foothills were they became severe. Many storms maintained strength as the traveled eastward all the way to the coast. Numerous reports of wind damage were reported across the region.
