Portions of seven islands - Niihau, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Maui, Kahoolawe, and the Big Island - remained dry through October. These areas were mainly in the D2 category of severe drought, with a couple falling into the D3 category of extreme drought (Molokai Leeward and Maui Central Valley).
