The wider storm

Hurricane Sally made landfall in Gulf Shores, AL at 5am on Wednesday, September 16th as a strong Category 2 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 105 mph. Due to the very slow movement of the hurricane, a long duration of tropical storm force and hurricane force winds impacted a large majority of the Alabama and northwest Florida coastal waters. Tropical storm conditions extended as far east as Choctawhatchee Bay.
