The wider storm

A deepening surface low migrated across and northeast of Lake Huron during the afternoon. At the same time, a 70 to 90 knot 500 mb speed maximum and mid-level cold core lagged to the southwest, and to the cool side of the trailing cold front. A broken line of thunderstorms accompanied the cold front.
