Event narrative

Sustained winds reached 40 to 50 mph with gusts as high as 67 mph at Dead Man Canyon. Damaging winds reported between Arco and Darlington with 2 large trees reported down in Moore at 5:27 PM MDT. AT 5: 54 PM MDT several trees reported down between Mackay and Darlington with one tree lying across Highway 93 in Mackay. A tree was also reported on a powerline in Moore with many downed trees 10 to 12 inches in diameter.

Wider weather episode

A strong cold front passed through eastern Idaho shifting southerly winds to northeasterly with sustained speeds over 40 mph and gusts over 50 mph widespread. Extensive traffic problems and damage occurred.
