High pressure strengthened over central California between the afternoon of December 14 and the early morning of December 15. This resulted in inversion conditions over the central San Jaoquin Valley during the morning of December 15 and with clear skies and light winds previaling, an area of dense fog formed along the State Route 99 corridor between Turlock and Tulare. The fog was most prevalent in Merced County where it persisted until late morning.
