Event narrative
Heavy snow within a convergence zone in the central Cascades led to accumulations of around 6.5 inches within a twelve hour period at Stevens Pass.
Wider weather episode
Strong cyclonic flow and the passage of a shortwave trough, accompanied by a strong mid level jet moved into Washington during the early morning hours of the 21st. Large scale lift aided in the development of precipitation across the northern half of Western Washington. A period of heavy snow brought accumulating snowfall to the North and Central Cascades, especially to the Central Cascades around Stevens Pass.
