Event narrative

A period of heavy snow fell across the Southern Cascades of Washington beginning the evening of the 10th and continuing through the morning hours of October 11. Paradise at Mount Rainier received 8.5 inches of new snow with this storm.

Wider weather episode

A mid level disturbance passed over Western Washington the night of October 10, providing enough ascent to generate areas of precipitation. Snow levels and temperatures were low enough across the Southern Cascades, particularly Mount Rainier, for snow to accumulate in a short period of time into the morning hours of October 11.
