With high pressure remaining in place over central California, areas of dense fog formed once again during the evening of December 20 as the stratus deck dissipated during the late afternoon and with clearing skies and light winds fog quickly reformed. The dense fog persisted across much of the valley from the northern portion of Kern County northward through the early afternoon of December 21 when the fog slowly dissipated.
