Event narrative

Although rain tapered off across Habersham County during the morning hours, flooding continued along the Soque River into the early afternoon as runoff from the 6 to 7 inches of rain that fell across the basin in around 24 hours continued to flow through the basin. Multiple roads remained inundated or damaged and closed during this time.

Wider weather episode

Heavy rain developed across northeast Georgia throughout the 10th and into the early morning of the 11th as the remnants of Tropical Cyclone Delta drifted from the Deep South into the Tennessee Valley. Terrain impacts resulted in a swath of 5 to 7 inches of rain across Habsersham and Rabun Counties which caused flash flooding within the major basins of those two counties.
