Buoy 41009, located 25 miles east of Port Canaveral recorded a peak wind gust of 35 knots from the south as a thunderstorm moved quickly northeast across the platform.
Wider weather episode
A cluster of thunderstorms developed ahead of a cold front, from the Brevard County coast to 25 miles offshore. Wind gusts near 35 knots were observed near the coast north of Port Canaveral and also at a weather buoy 25 miles east of Port Canaveral.
