Heavy Snow — Southern Cass, Minnesota

2020-11-10 · Southern Cass, Minnesota

Wider weather episode

An area of low pressure lifting northeastward brought a short but heavy period of snow to the region during the evening of the 10th before ending during the early morning hours. Snowfall reports of 6 to 10 inches were recorded from the Brainerd Lakes area into the Twin Ports and Minnesota Arrowhead with a total of 11 inches recorded near Motley. Models struggled with this system right up to the onset of the storm and the area of heaviest snow extended further west than anticipated. Much of the snow fell in about 6 hours and started during the evening commute in many locations. Some of the Brainerd area received just over 6 inches of snow in as little as 3 hours during this event.
