Event narrative

Station 8 WNW Wolf Creek measured a 54 kt (62 mph) non-thunderstorm wind gust.

Wider weather episode

A fast moving shortwave brought 50 to 70 kt H700 winds through the region. The nocturnal timing of peak winds aloft lead to the reliance on mountain wave activity to transfer these winds to the surface. Still high wind gusts were observed over the Rocky Mountain Front and portions of Central/North-central MT.
