Event narrative

Snowfall of 2.0 inches was reported one mile northeast of Rainelle. Sleet accumulated to a depth of three-tenths of an inch one mile northeast of Meadow Bluff, and 2.5 inches at one mile east-northeast of Rainelle. Small amounts of snow and freezing rain occurred across the area. Key Impacts: Slick and slushy roads and sidewalks.

Wider weather episode

Low pressure tracked northeast along the east coast of the U.S. Moisture from this system fell as a wintry mix across parts of southeast West Virginia. Snowfall from the system totaled up to two inches in places. Ice accretion totaled up to one-quarter inch in some locations. Sleet accumulated up to almost three inches in spots. Snow, freezing rain, and sleet impacted the region with the result being a slushy and slick mix of the above on roads and other surfaces. Key Impacts: Slick and slushy roads and sidewalks, downed trees and power lines.
