Several locations reported minimum temperatures between 26 and 30 degrees on January 26.

As the system which brought snow to the foothills and lower elevations of the Tehachapi Mountains as well as strong winds to much of the Tehachapi Mountains and Kern County Deserts moved out of the area, skies cleared out from the north and with diminished winds in the San Joaquin Valley, temperatures dropped below the freezing mark during the morning of January 26. Much of Merced County and the valley portion of Madera County experienced a hard freeze as temperatures dropped below 28 degrees F for a few hours. Further south, temperatures bottomed out near the freezing mark.
