Strong high pressure centered near the Four Corners led to well above normal temperatures and excessive heat warning conditions across the region. Four direct fatalities were reported by the Maricopa County Department of Public Health. One of these fatalities was a 3 year old girl who was left in a hot vehicle for 2 to 3 hours as reported by local media.
