Event narrative
The Bobcat Fire burned 115,796 acres in the mountains of Los Angeles county as well as the foothills of the Antelope Valley and San Gabriel Valleys. The combination of hot temperatures, very dry vegetation and some offshore winds allowed the fire to grow significantly. Overall, 87 homes were destroyed and 28 more homes were damaged.
