Agate sensor located three miles east-northeast of Agate measured the reported wind gust.
Wider weather episode
A windy stretch of days across the western Nebraska Panhandle in the middle portion of January as a frontal boundary with snow produced initial high winds that were measured by several sensors. As pressure gradients became stacked and flow conducive to the region and local topographic effects, winds continued to be strong into the morning of the 15th. Highest wind gust was 86 mph at the Scottsbluff Airport ASOS sensor on the thirteenth.
