Pompano Beach Fire Rescue and Emergency Management reported the drowning of a 50-year-old man while rescuing several swimmers in distress from rip currents at around 5 PM EST at Pompano Beach.

Strong subtropical high pressure over the western Atlantic contributed to breezy conditions across South Florida. This led to hazardous marine and beach conditions to the South Florida Atlantic coast beaches.
