U.S. Border Patrol at Skagway Customs reported 8 to 12 inches of new snow in blowing and drifting conditions.

Wider weather episode

A strong gale force low impacted Southeast Alaska producing widespread precipitation. Colder temperatures in the northern section of the panhandle allowed for heavy snowfall amounts to accumulate.
