Event narrative
Mesonet Station JLXA2 at the Juneeau Library reported a peak gust of 67 mph. Power outages due to trees being blown down were also reported across the area throughout this event.
Wider weather episode
Low pressure tracking northward across the gulf caused a strong northeasterly pressure gradient across the Coast Mountains and the north/central inner channels. This along with an inversion already in place were the necessary ingredients for Taku winds to increase over downtown Juneau and Douglas.
