Snow showers that began across western North Carolina during the evening of the 30th continued through the morning of the 1st as strong northwest winds pushed moisture up the western slopes of the Appalachians resulted in development of numerous to widespread snow showers near the Tennessee border. By the time the snow showers tapered off around noon on the 1st, snow accumulations ranged from 1 to 4 inches, with locally higher amounts in the higher elevations along the Tennessee border.
