Event narrative

Heavy snow fell above 3000 feet with rates over 1 inch per hour at times. Snow totals of 10 to 18 inches were common with 15 inches in Elk City and 18 inches at Red River Hot Springs. Periods of difficult travel were observed.

Wider weather episode

An atmospheric river brought heavy snow to north-central Idaho late on the 4th into the morning hours of the 5th.
