Event narrative

Snowfall amounts ranged from a trace across southern portions of the county to around 2 inch across northern portions of the county.

Wider weather episode

A potent quick moving mid level disturbance move across central North Carolina on January 8th. The combination of marginal cold air in place and precipitation rates was enough to allow for a change over to light snow in the northwest Piedmont of central North Carolina during the evening hours. However, temperatures remained near to just above freezing, resulting in generally less than an inch of snowfall on grassy areas. This result in no impacts across the affected area.
