Event narrative
Ice accretion was noted on branches and untreated surfaces near Seven Springs and at Farmington.
Wider weather episode
Moisture increased across the region on January 25th ahead of a digging trough across the central Plains. Persistent moisture advection and increasing vertical motion supported by frontogenesis yielded precipitation during the afternoon and evening hours. Surface temperatures remained below freezing at the onset, supporting a wintry mix due to warmer air aloft. A light glaze of freezing rain - up to 0.10 - was observed in most areas as well as modest snow amounts.
