Snowfall amounts across this part of the county ranged from 5.0 inches of snowfall four miles northeast of Rainelle to 5.5 inches three miles north of Rupert. Key impacts: slippery roads and sidewalks.

The wider storm

A low pressure system moved out of the central Plains into the Ohio Valley, opening the Mid-Atlantic to southwesterly flow that was enriched with moisture. Along with the increasing moisture was rising temperatures, meaning precipitation types changed through the event as temperatures climbed. In the end, parts of West Virginia received a mix of snow and sleet.
