Strong wind gusts were reported Tuesday morning with a measured gust of 54 mph being reported at the Manchester ASOS. A tree snapped on Tuesday morning during these strong winds and struck a vehicle on Bridge Street in Manchester. Two people in the car suffered injuries with the driver suffering serious injuries.
Wider weather episode
An intense low pressure curled northeast through the Bay of Fundy on the 1st. Early on the 2nd an arctic cold front wrapped into the circulation and blasted through northern New England. Strong cold air advection led to a well mixed boundary layer and strong wind gusts up to 50mph across much of the forecast area. The strongest wind gusts lasted from morning until early afternoon. A tree snapped and fell on a vehicle leading to multiple injuries in Manchester.
