Wider weather episode

Heavy snow from low pressure across the Panhandle coupled with record breaking cold in the aftermath made things difficult for area ranchers on Valentine's Day as many were in the calving season. Many ranchers had to prepare additional feed and wind breaks to keep herd alive along with heavy snow during portion of the extreme cold. Chadron, Scottsbluff, Alliance, and Sidney all set new record low temperatures during this period as well.
