Event narrative

Drought conditions have improved slightly at Kapingmarangi as it has gone from D4 Exceptional Drought in mid January to D3 Extreme Drought by the end of the month.

WSO Pohnpei reports recent rainfall has filled some of Kapinga`s water catchments. Vegetation has started to green but crops remain in poor condition.

Residents have taken advantage of recent rainfall with many of the island`s catchment tanks at adequate levels. The largest tank on the island was filled 25-30% capacity, a plastic 200 gallon was filled and private catchments are roughly 35% capacity.

A routine cargo ship will bring some supplies to Kapinga during the month.
