Wider weather episode
An upper level low pressure system dropping through the Great Basin produced strong wind gusts across the Tehachapi and Lake Isabella areas as well as over downslope prone portions of Indian Wells Valley between the afternoon of April 13 and the early morning of April 14 as cooler air pushed into the region. Several stations measured gusts above 45 mph while a few low impact indicator sites measure gusts exceeding 60 mph. The low moved to east of the area on April 14 which resulted in winds decreasing during the day.
