Event narrative

Heavy snow and winds created dangerous driving conditions across the Idaho Palouse. There were reports of new snow accumulations measuring 6 to 10 inches in locations near Highway 95, such as Viola, Harvard, and Potlatch. Winds with gusts to 30 mph created blowing snow and drifts with heights up to 12 inches.

Wider weather episode

A winter storm brought widespread snow to the Idaho Panhandle on February 14th and 15th. Light snow continued to linger in the Idaho Panhandle into the 16th. Moderate to heavy snow accumulations, from 4 to 10 inches, fell in the southern half of the Panhandle. This created difficult driving conditions, especially during the morning and evening commutes. Blowing snow, in the Idaho Palouse, limited visibility on roadways, such as Highway 95.
