Favorable ascent aloft provided by a jet streak moving over the Great Lakes region in conjunction with strong frontogenetical forcing lead to localized heavy snowfall across the Straits. Specifically, 11 of snow fell in St. Ignace over a 24-hour period ending the evening of 2/24.
